No matter what name these four rockers out of Hamilton go by, they always bring an arsenal of rocking songs when they pop into Brantford.
They need no intro, the boys are back, it’s time to party.
Friday March 20th at 8:30pm The Hot Machine (aka 40 Sons) will be performing live alongside Dj m2 playing between their sets and after midnight!
“A lot of bands are driving the rock sound to be pretty stale,” says Repic. “There’s not enough energy and excitement in it anymore. With this band, you have four guys sitting around writing music they actually feel something from, rather than a team of writers churning out vacuous pop.”
“Who you’re influenced by and what you sound like are two very different things,” asserts Spik. “A band like this takes inspiration from The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. Do we sound anything like them? No. Some of us like Queens of the Stone Age and some of us like Red Hot Chili Peppers, but we still don’t fit their mold.”
“We take bits of inspiration from a lot of different places but when you hear us, you won’t be calling us, ‘the band that sounds like this band or that band'” offers Repic. “We take their drive; the idea of what made bands we love distinct and apply it to ourselves.”

Cute and cuddly yet deep and complex, Azalea are bringing their uniquely beautiful home-brewed alt-country folkpop music to Brantford!
Getting to know Azalea’s music is getting to know Benjamin & Mia Hackett, the husband & wife duo from Hamilton, Ontario. The way their voices blend together in song is a beautiful picture of how they come together in life. Before meeting one another, Benjamin & Mia worked hard at their craft but there was an element missing. It only took one songwriting session together to discover that they were in fact missing each other. Apart, their efforts fell short of what they had hoped to express musically, but together their sound blossomed into something beautiful, the sound now known as Azalea.
Their performances feature a beautiful blend of intimate & reflective pieces, and upbeat numbers that feature exciting live looping. Their chemistry is undeniably adorable – Azalea’s “cute factor” has become a distinguishing feature that transcends their live performances and is echoed in their lyrics and musical arrangements.
For their latest release, “Inside Out”, Azalea has streamlined their folk-tinged pop sound and crafted songs that tug on your heart’s strings with haunting melodic & harmonic lines. Reminiscent of The Civil Wars, Ryan Adams, and Aimee Mann, “Inside Out” sheds light on Azalea’s Alt-Country side. Benjamin & Mia wrote, arranged, produced and recorded the album at their beloved “Sweet Dreams Recording Studio” in their Hamilton home.
Azalea’s 2010 release, “Coffee & Kisses EP, has been featured in many prominent music magazines and has had a great response from college radio across Ontario. The album was also nominated and placed in the top three finalists for Recording of the Year, Rock Recording of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, and Producer of the Year at the 2010 Durham Region Music Awards.
